Have a quiet place to study, free from distractions. Don't study with the television on.
Try to study at the same time each day. It is good to set a routine. If you are more alert in the morning, study when you first wake up. Otherwise study right after school if possible.
Eat a healthy snack before getting started.
Get organized! Have a "Homework Box" full of all the supplies you may need, so you won't have to spend time looking for things.
Review your notes everyday even if you don't have any assigned homework. Use your assignment book and make sure you understand the assignment, grading rubric and timeline.
If you have a lot to study, start with the more difficult subjects first and study in shorter periods of time.
During your breaks, do some physical activity and take some deep breaths.
Prioritize your homework by working on assignments in the order they are due. Break long term assignments into manageable tasks and work on them daily.
Get plenty of sleep. Eat well balanced meals and drink plenty of water. Your brain functions better when it is well nourished and hydrated.
Pack your backpack before you go to sleep. You don't want to rush around in the morning and forget the homework you worked so hard on.
