About The Teacher
I grew up in Sugar Land, Texas. I attended Texas A&M University, College
Station, and graduated class of '91. Whoop! I later attended Texas A&M
Commerce and obtained my teaching certificate in 1996. I taught 4th grade in
NE Texas and now I am so excited to be teaching 1st grade here at Willow
Creek ! I also hold an ESL certification. I have three children, Hanna,
Harrison, and Hayden who all attend schools in Tomball ISD. In my free time
I love spending time with my family, traveling, reading, shopping, and
continuing my education. I truly enjoy teaching and love seeing the growth
in my students.

Mission For The Class
My goal is to encourage first graders to continue their enthusiasm for
learning and help them become strong students, responsible, and caring
citizens. This will be accomplished by developing their reading fluency and
comprehension skills, building a strong foundation of math skills,
stretching their thinking through problem solving and creativity and
practicing responsibility and good citizenship.

Welcome to Ms. Ray's Class

Welcome to Ms. Ray's first grade class!
I am so excited to have your child in my class this year.  We are doing a lot of adjusting to life in first grade, following directions, meeting new friends, writing stories, practicing math facts and sight words.......
We started bringing home our B.E.E. (bring everything everyday) Binder home last week.  We need to bring the binder to and from school each day.
Today we got our first homework packet.
Homework is not due until Friday.
We will have a spelling test on Friday.
If you have any questions please email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Your kids are doing great!  Thanks for sharing them with me each day.
Ms. Ray

Myon.com login directions below (reading website)

Today we logged into a website called "myon.com" .  This is a district recommended site that will be great for students to use over the summer to keep up, and improve their reading skills.  It has thousands of books saved for each student according to their reading levels.

The log in directions are below.  Students need to use their lunch number and their tisd + their birthdate to log.  They should be familiar with these, if not I sent home a "login bookmark" earlier in the year with these numbers.

I believe you have to use google chrome to access this website.  Let them give it a try and see if they can log in and explore the site over the weekend if there is time.

If you signed up to bring bucket fillers for the end of the year you can go ahead and send them any time.  This way I will know what I have and what is needed to complete filling the buckets for the students.

We need Field day Volunteers

Field Day is Friday, May 12th!  Thank you very much for all the people who already committed to helping out at field day.  Unfortunately, we do not have as many helpers as we need to have a successful day.  If you can help, please e-mail Brenda Spedden at brendaspedden@tomballisd.net. We are needing help from 8:30am-11:15am and 12:30pm-3:15pm.  Thank you.

Today's Wednesday Folder

Please check today's Wednesday folder, there are a few important things to see.
1. Progress reports went home today (no need to return it)
2. There is a "pre-order form for school supplies"  ** this is a great way to order your student's school supplies for next year.  PTO works with the teachers and know exactly the supplies the teachers/school is requesting, you don't have to go and try to find all of the supplies, and it is usually less expensive because the PTO orders in bulk.  If you order they will be delivered to your child's teacher before school starts next school year.
3.  Please send in any old news papers, magazines, local news papers, election flyers.......  We will begin learning about media literacy in our world starting next week.

Egg drop suvivor.
They had a lot of fun today watching and opening their projects to see whose egg made it and whose did not.
