I'm here to work with you and I look forward to an exciting and educational year!

I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1997. This will be my
twentieth year at Willow Creek Elementary. For three years I taught first
grade. I moved to second grade and found my place!!

I have lived in the Tomball area for the past twenty years with my
husband, Steve. We have a wonderful son who enjoys playing
basketball, baseball and football. He is attending Texas Tech
University. I enjoy watching sports, reading, cooking, and spending time with
my family(and dogs).

Parents,

If you have not had your ID scanned at Willow Creek for the 2018-2019 school year, you may stop by the campus before December 17th and have your ID scanned to save time waiting in line the day of the event.  Your ID must be scanned each school year.

Reservations can be made by completing the Google form online https://goo.gl/forms/F5HMBu640ZQw3Zs62 .  Badges will be printed and available at a designated table when you arrive.  Visitors who have not made reservations will need to wait in a very long, time consuming line and could miss part of the event.  No exceptions will be made.

All visitors should be prepared to present a Photo ID even if you have made reservations.  Once you arrive for the event please check in at the designated tables outside.

Please help make our Winter Party a success!

Dear Parents,

We are gearing up for the 2nd grade Winter Party! The party will be held Thursday, December 20th from 2:45P.M. to 3:30P.M. in Mrs. Vasquez's classroom.  The PTO will be providing cupcakes for the students, but we still need parent donations to make our first party of the year a success! Please use the link below to sign up for items needed for the party!  Feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions.  This year Kelly Marchiando and I will be your homeroom parents. We are excited to help make second grade a fun year for Mrs. Vasquez's class.

We thought that it would be fun to put together a gift for Mrs. Vasquez from her class. This gift will be given to her at the class party. We are trying to put together a gift card tree with gift cards to Mrs. Vasquez's favorite places. On the SignUp Genius link you will find options to donate to the class gift.

Social Studies Government Study Guide

We have a test in Social Studies on Friday, November 9th.  A study guide was sent home on Friday (November 2nd) and I have provided a link to the file here.  We have been studying government for the past three weeks and created a booklet to use on the test. Please review and discuss the vocabulary and concepts with your student.  Do not worry about knowing how to correctly spell any of the vocabulary.

Home Reader Contract

Students are bringing a home reader contract home today.  Once I receive the signed contract, your learner will be bringing books (on their independent level) home to read and return.   When students finish reading the book they may return the book for a new one.  They do not need to bring to school every day, only when they are ready to make an exchange.

The intent of home readers is to build confidence, skills, fluency and vocabulary.
Please dedicate 15-20 minutes to reading nightly.  Talk with your students about what they have read to build comprehension.  Rereading familiar books helps develop fluency.
