Welcome to Mrs. Elder's Kindergarten Class

My name is Amanda Elder and this is my first year at Willow Creek Elementary School. I am a very proud graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. Axe 'em Jacks!!  I have taught for six years in East Texas and I am happy to now be part of the Tomball ISD family.
My husband teaches Physics and IPC at Tomball Memorial High School. We have two beautiful children. Graceanna is six years old and Noah is 4 years old.
My classroom is a warm, inviting environment where I'm sure your children will be excited to learn. I have high expectations for their learning and social skills. I love my students very much and each one of them takes a small piece of my heart when they move on from my class. It is as important that they feel safe and loved at school as that they excel academically.

Eagle Cam

Hello families!
We made it to Christmas Break!
Our class has been watching an eagle family on a webcam since October. We waited and waited for them to lay eggs. Finally, they did and now we have been waiting for them to hatch. We are officially on hatch watch as they will be making an appearance any day now! We will be on break when they hatch and I don't want the kids to miss it.
You can find them on Facebook by searching Southwest Florida Eagle Webcam.
Also, here is a link to their website.  http://dickpritchettrealestate.com/eagle-feed.html
I believe you need a google account in order to view the live feed. I may be wrong but it always makes me login.
I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas. Thank you all for making our Christmas party the best EVER!

Hi families!
Just a few things.
Remember, tomorrow is the ABC parade. Students can come to school in their costumes. If they are wearing something that will make it hard for them to participate in regular school activities please send extra clothes for them to change into.
Please be sure they have appropriate shoes for P.E.
There were a few items that were not bid on and up for sale from Boo Bash! If you are interested, go to the link and click "Buy it Now"

If you volunteered to bring a pumpkin for pumpkin carving on Tuesday, please have it at school by Monday. If you volunteered to help carve pumpkins, be here by 1:40 on Tuesday.

Hi everyone!
This week we are doing an apple investigation!! You will receive a note but each child will need to bring in their favorite color apple by Wednesday. We will use them in science. We will use our five senses to describe the properties of the apples.
I also need a bag each of red, green, and yellow apples if anyone wants to volunteer to bring them. :)
On Friday, I want to make crock pot applesauce with the class. It includes apples, sugar, cinnamon, and water. Please let me know if you do not want your child to eat the applesauce.

This Week

Today was a super busy Monday! You should be very proud of your little kinder babies. They are doing such an awesome job following school rules and treating one another with kindness and respect.
Today we celebrated first responders in remembrance of 9/11. They had a lot of great input in the wake of Hurricane Harvey and we also learned that many of our families have police officers and firefighters in them!
This week we are working on the words to and and.
We also need to practice writing our names.
Today blank pizza boxes were sent home for your family to decorate in a "back to school" theme and return no later than Friday. Then your family can order pizza from Marcos Pizza and have it delivered in a box had decorated by one of our very own wonderful kindergarteners. How awesome is that?!

Welcome Back

Hey families. I pray that Hurricane Harvey left all of you alone and that you stayed dry. I am excited to get back to a normal schedule.
This week we will be working on writing our names, letter and number recognition, science safety, and how to use good manners. Remember to go to bed early, eat a good breakfast, and come to school excited to learn!
